ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Secil!

I am a student, writer, and aspiring data scientist with an interest for the numbers that silently power the world we live in. I strive use my math and computer science skills to make small steps in bettering the world, whether that's through education or health research. GETTING HERE

Did you know that you had a 1 in 2.3 chance of being born into poverty? Or that air pollution kills at least 7 million people annually?

There is data behind almost everything that happens in this world––much of which goes unadvertised or is even hidden from us.

It began with minor details in everyday observations, and later through more major events, but I soon came to realize one prevalent truth: Numbers often speak louder than words.

The more I turned over the idea in my head, the more apparent it became. Words only communicate so much, and even then aren't guaranteed to reflect the truth. Numbers, meanwhile––raw, source-driven numbers, speak truths louder than mere claims.

Though I've always loved the art of literature, whether it's reading about new concepts or writing about my latest concerns, this newfound understanding consistently pulled at my mind, and still does. I see it materialize in learning environments, in ecological problems, in cancer research. It is with this motivation that I created this blog and the projects that come with it.

a high school student in the graduating class of 2027. I created this blog to record my journey exploring data science, with special focus on its relation to computers, AI, and life sciences. This interest of mine has existed and only grown since the 8th grade, when I took a simple coding course that changed how I saw school and, later, my future. Since then, I've worked with clubs, taken classes, and led projects related to this field.

I've come to realize that, given my interest and exposure to data science, there's no better way to put it to use than to share it with others. I hope that you find this blog both enlightening and thought-provoking, whether you're new to this sphere or already an expert.
