During the initial stages of developing ClassPulse––my classroom technology application––I became very interested in submitting to hackathons.

Hackathons, available for coders all across the world, are great motivators to create and earn recognition for projects. Most are very flexible, receiving submissions that serve to improve sectors like healthcare, education, clean energy, gender equality and more. There is a wide range of options for various skill levels, meaning that almost any individual coder/team (professional or aspiring) can find a match. Even better, countless online hackathon options are available if physical presence is a setback.

When I was browsing for hackathons, I came across multiple different platforms of interest. One that stuck out from the others, however, in terms of both organization and variety, was Devpost.

Devpost hosts hackathons from all kinds of companies and institutions. For example, an ongoing hackathon by Gemini requires advanced business experience and offers prizes summing to two million dollars, while a more beginner-friendly one by binnovative has 12 non-cash prizes.

In one month, I found around five suitable hackathons that I could submit ClassPulse to whilst following all rules and requirements. Though I eventually decided to patent my application, making it unwise to reveal its infrastructure on the Internet, I believe that submitting it to hackathons could have been quite rewarding.

So, if you're interested in coding or AI, I strongly encourage you to check out available hackathons on Devpost, whether you're looking to start a project or hand in a recent one.
